Old Rag Mountain - Rock climbing on Old Rag Mountain is an "alpine style" objective. The approach to the climbing area is 2.7 miles uphill gaining 1,760' of elevation and usually takes about 1.5 hours. Once atop the mountain you are rewarded with exquisite mountain top views and granite climbing. Old Rag Mountain is a high exertion day and best suited for experienced climbers. On the mountain, routes are 5.6 and above with most climbs being 5.7-5.10+.
To ensure you are ready for climbing on Old Rag:
- Be able to comfortably run or hike 6 miles and experience little fatigue.
- Be able to climb 5.7 or above crack climbs outdoors.
- Have experience lead belaying, removing trad gear, and following single pitch or multi-pitch routes.
